Spam blocking in htaccess

Hello James, I have come over here from the phpBB forum as was suggested. I added in the original 7G firewall code to my existing htaccess file which is what I posted over there and was told to come here. I came here and found the add on for aggressive bot and added that on this morning. But looking at Awstats it looks like maybe the 7G did not activate since the bots are still quite active even after my adding it in at around 14:00 yesterday afternoon, 9/28/23. I added the add on this morning at about 10:00, 9/29/23. I also checked my resource monitor in the CP and it tells me I was over my limit on resource usage for the last 24 hours. Here is a copy of my htaccess file, hopefully you can advise if it is good or bad. And I HOPE I am putting this in the right spot on your forum!! I seem to be getting everything wrong on the "support" forum. If I am screwing up let me know, I am sure you have seen my background history from the other forum. I am having to learn this rather quickly.

Yes, that looks correct, however please remember that this code blocks BAD bots (those that are there to scrape the content of your board, over index or behave otherwise in a malicious manner) It does not block the bots which index your board in the usual manner (eg Google)

I have no idea why your board is causing the issues you are having with your current host as all of the data I have see you put on phpBB.com is well within what a normal shared hosting package should be able to cope with.

As I said on phpBB.com I host all of my boards on one shared hosting package and have never has any issue with over usage (3 'real' boards, 10 demo boards for my extensions, 3 static websites and all of my email)

There is a link at the foot of this board to my hosts. I suggest that you contact them, letting them know what you want to host, what the data is in your cPanel (size on disk etc) and what your current hosts are saying about your over usage. Support is first class and seriously the best I have ever had or seen from any hosting company. I have been with them for 7 years now and have no intention of ever changing.

I just checked out their site and I am sold. Granted the pound is quite strong against the dollar right now but it is still a much better deal then I would get here. I was looking at the middle plan since I do have another website which died years ago but I have kept the domain alive with the hopes of bringing it back to life. The present site owner has a couple of his site parked on that site and I do not know if he wants to make that a condition of the transfer or not. I am hoping not. But I cannot do the transfer until I get ownership of the site. I guess I could but it would be complicated .

Now to play "the Game" with the current host. I have told them I was planning on staying with them as long as they can provide me with better than what I have been getting. This is obviously never going to happen and I am pretty sure they know that but I want them to think I am staying at least until I own the site so I can get the change done before they have a chance to kick me out again.

It sounds like you will have to play them, crazy that you have to but some hosts are just not up to what they should be so you have no choice.

I have contacted the site owner and told him we need to get this done and he said when, I said now is a good time and he has not replied as of yet. My only contact with him is Facebook Messenger. I hate Facebook with a passion. I have not called your host yet because I want this deal done first, Then I can call and and get the ball rolling. I had asked about overseas hosting but they do have a center in Fla. over here so I would still be working out of the US.
