gTranslate

Post by Seewolfpk »

Today I found this very nice EXT: [3.3][CDB] gTranslate

It works very fine on a german board.
But if user answer in other language then german the translation did not work.

For example not translate to german:

This text is written in english
Deze tekst is in het dutch geschreven.

But translate to dutch the english text is translate
Deze tekst is in het Engels geschreven
Deze tekst is in het nederlands geschreven.

translate to english, the dutch text not translate
This text is written in English
Deze tekst is written in het dutch.

Can this be fixed or did I make a mistake?
Board Language I set to de

gTranslate have replied that (as I expected) for best results the site needs to be in one language. However, they are passing my question along to see if there is anything that can be done to improve this

Thanks for this information.
I hope that there is a chance to translate multilanguage.

If I set via ucp the user language in dutch
and
the gTranslate also to dutch
then translation to german works with multilanguage posting.

But not all correct then in english and dutch.

So a german user can work good but user with other language have problems.

If I set all to de, than english and dutch works but translate from dutch or english postings not translate to german.

Hi, Can you add in the choice menu an option "NONE", by default? My forum is in Polish, when i choose another language eg. spanish and then return to the Polish one (the gtranslate, translates some words with lot of errors). I need an option "NONE", that meaning Not translate nothing, i want to show/read the original topics

I am afraid not as the language dropdown is created by the gTranslate code, all I have done is wrap it in a pbpBB compatible way.

I'll suggest it to gTranslate to see if they are willing to implement it.

I have contacted gTranslate and they are considering my request to add 'None' as an option. I will let you know how they respond.

I have had a reply from gTranslate as follows
Hi,

There are two possible opinions here.

In the free version, the functionality to keep the text of your main website as the default is not available, as the entire translation process is performed locally in your browser using JavaScript.

When translating from French to English, Google takes the French words and translates them into English, and vice versa.

You can use one of our paid plans to keep the text of your main website as the default.

If you are interested in our paid plans.

Obviously I have not investigated the paid for version as I do not need it myself and I doubt many board admin would be prepared to pay the necessary cost. (From $10 m-1) Sorry I can not help further
